Joining the Firm in 2024, Matthew Aberegg brings skills honed from his prior positions in both public and private practice.
He formerly served as a Judicial Attorney for Administrative Judge Julie Schafer in the Medina County Domestic Relations Court. He assisted the Judge by drafting and researching complex issues for cases involving divorce, dissolution, legal separation, annulments, parentage, third-party legal custody, spousal and child support, domestic violence civil protection, dating violence civil protection, and post-decree matters.
Prior to his time at the Court, he gained experience working with prosecutors in both civil and criminal matters for the county. During his time at prosecutors’ offices, Matthew guided township officials, and county agencies on how to best serve the citizens of the County through the negotiation of contracts, complex civil litigation, and the prosecution of both misdemeanors and felonies.
Matthew’s first attorney position was with a boutique law firm in Wooster where he gained invaluable knowledge concerning professional responsibility of an attorney in his practices of Family Law, Estate Planning and Probate Law, and Criminal Law.
Matthew attended the University of Akron where he served as the student body vice president. During this time, he received his healthcare law certificate and completed externships at NEOMED and Employers Health Purchasing Corporation. He wrote his thesis on the topics of Do Not Resuscitate Tattoos and the Evolving Culture of Euthanasia. Matthew obtained his mediation license during his time and has successfully mediated several Domestic Relations matters.

Accomplishments
Matthew is a former Division 1 soccer player at the University of Pittsburgh and ODP National Team Reserve. Having grown up playing in Medina for Highland High School, he is active in the training of youth players in the community.
